FAQ

Q1: What is the maximum capacity of this scale? The scale measures tongue weight up to 1800 lbs (≈816 kg). This range covers most travel trailers, cargo trailers, and boat trailers.

Q2: How accurate is the measurement? Mechanical spring-based scales typically provide sufficient accuracy for safe towing setup. They are designed for practical field use rather than laboratory precision.

Q3: How do I use the scale correctly? Place the scale on a firm, level surface under the trailer coupler. Lower the trailer tongue slowly until full weight rests on the scale. Ensure wheels are chocked and the trailer is stable.

Q4: Do I need batteries or calibration? No. This is a fully mechanical device. It does not require batteries, electronics, or calibration.

Q5: Can I use it with any type of trailer? Yes. The scale is compatible with standard coupler-based trailers: RV, travel trailers, cargo trailers, boat trailers, and utility trailers.

Q6: What happens if tongue weight is too low or too high? Too low: increased trailer sway and loss of control. Too high: excessive load on hitch and rear axle, reduced steering control.

Q7: Can this replace a full trailer weight scale? No. This tool measures only tongue weight, not total trailer weight (GVWR). It complements, but does not replace, full vehicle or axle scales.

Q8: How often should I measure tongue weight? Every time you significantly change load distribution (cargo placement, water tanks, gear).
