How did you come up with the idea for this product?

Study after study shows that spending time outside is good for us. It lowers cortisol, boosts endorphins and even improves memory. But biting bugs can really add stress to an otherwise fun outing. Imagine you could leave the bug spray at home and still feel safe and secure. Diseases spread by insects are on the rise in the United States and around the world. We have the technology to protect ourselves, let’s use it! And make it pretty. Pang Wangle is a vintage American phrase meaning “to go along cheerfully despite minor misfortunes.” The name reflects our optimistic attitude about having fun outside despite the blood-sucking obstacles. Welcome to Pang Wangle!

What makes your product special?

From the all-natural and renewable materials we use in our fabrics to how those fabrics are made, every decision is guided by our mission to minimize waste and contribute to a healthy and productive environment. Fabric dye colors are processed in a closed loop water system that recycles 100% of the water used in processing. Fabric dyes are non-toxic, water-soluble, and re-enter the public water system without negative environmental impact. Our California-based textile manufacturer exceeds all state, regional, national, and international carbon emission standards. The Essential Wrap not only protects you from biting insects, it lets you be part of the solution in reversing the negative impacts of the textile industry on our environment. What has been the best part of your experience?

The best part of starting and growing a business for me is seeing an idea take shape and come to life. I founded Pang Wangle three years ago. I have learned to accept the failures and I try to savor the wins. Being part of Amazon Launchpad is a definitely a win! Starting a company is a long process, and I have learned more than anything to be patient and trust my instincts.
