Can I use my HoldOn bags in the microwave? What about the oven? In a sous vide?

HoldOn bags should not be used in or around any heat sources like an oven, microwave, open flame or even a sous vide because the materials will break down when triggered by increased moisture and high temperatures.

Can I use my HoldOn zipseal bags in the freezer?

Yes! Our zipseal bags are food-, fridge-, and freezer-safe. Make sure that the top zipseal is completely zipped tight, as moisture build-up inside the bags could impact the freshness of the food items inside.

How do I compost HoldOn zipseal bags?

First, remove any inorganic elements. To compost more efficiently, trim off the zipseal top and throw both sections into the compost. If you don’t have a home composting environment, our bags are also BPI certified industrial.

Can I throw my zipseal bags in the compost if they contain food?

If your bag contains compostable organic material (e.g. produce, grains), then yes! Do not throw your zipseal bag in the compost if it contains plastic or other inorganic materials (including meat and dairy products).

Can I reuse my compostable zipseal/storage bags?

Yes, as long as they don’t contain potential contaminants (i.e., we don’t recommend reusing a bag used to store meat). Simply empty the bag, turn inside out to rinse with gentle dish soap and water, and allow the bag to fully air dry inside out.

A Better Way, A Better Bag: Traditional plastic bags create an enormous amount of pollution. We knew there had to be a better way, so we created HoldOn. As a Certified B Corp, we’re proud to be a force for good by taking actions that benefit the planet and people, not just profits.
Customers find the freezer bags work well and appreciate their size, with one noting they’re better than Ziplock bags. The durability receives mixed feedback.
